Paris for Dummies:

"A Bullfrog's irreverent view of Paris"

You say you've never heard of the hook-slide, the shrinkage statue, or "the most famous builder's bum in Paris?" They're all nicknames for famous statues throughout Paris, coined by the original, irreverent Bullfrog Bikes company. Discover these and more from one of the guides leading the twice-daily Bullfrog Bikes tours. This is the tour to take if you're bored to tears by the thought of a guided tour, if you're backpacking through Paris and want to take a load off your feet (you can leave your gear in the locked garage), and, particularly, if you're part of a family with bike-loving kids (children must be at least 8 years old). The slightly off-kilter perspective of the Bullfrog guides is particularly refreshing - especially since you get to hear their commentary from the comfortable seat of a Schwinn cruiser.

Relatively new on the scene, Bullfrog Bikes is the only monolingual bike outfit in Paris - their day and night tours only come in American-accented English. But jokes aside, the guides know what they're talking about. Daytime tours take riders from the Eiffel Tower, include a break for a sit-down snack (cost not included), and stop at most of the big sights of particular historical interest, except for the Louvre and Notre-Dame. These are done in a separate- and gorgeous- night tour, where bikers learn about Notre-Dame, then stop for Berthillon ice cream (see Chapter 15) on the St-Louis, and cruise the courtyard of the Louvre at dusk, often to the accompaniment of a local busker playing Mozart on his flute. The night tour also includes a ride on a Bateaux Mouche river cruise boat with wine. (Don't drink too much, though; you still have to pedal the bike back to the garage!)
